Federal investigators have reportedly linked the gun used in this week’s Brooklyn subway shooting to a Columbus pawn shop.
The Associated Press quotes an unnamed law enforcement source as saying suspect Frank James bought the gun in 2011 at a Columbus pawn shop that was operating as a federally licensed gun dealer. The Associated Press did not name the pawn shop where James reportedly purchased the gun.
Police say James also had connections to several other states.
Law enforcement officials have arrested James, the New York Police Department said Wednesday.
Tuesday morning's attack left 10 people shot. Mayor Eric Adams said Wednesday that officials had officially named James a suspect after previously calling him a "person of interest."
Police believe James rented a van possibly connected to the violence. Authorities were examining social media videos in which the 62-year-old decried the United States as a racist place awash in violence and sometimes railed against Adams.
