Columbus Police investigators joined Mayor Ginther this afternoon and provided some more information about yesterday's arrest of a suspect in the killing of religious leader Mohamed Hassan Adam.

46-year old John Wooden Jr of Columbus has been charged with murder for Adam's death.

Adam's body was found on December 24 in the 1400 Block of Windsor Avenue. He’d been reported missing two days earlier. Police say there was an undisclosed business transaction between the two parties when the fatal shooting occurred. CPD detective Earl Westfall said tips came in about the case and that led them to the suspect's house. He said that's where they found a firearm used in the killing.

"We conducted a search warrant at his residence, recovered a firearm which subsequently was ballistically matched to the casings from that firearm, and the test casings were subsequently matched to the homicide scene," said Westfall.

Westfall said Wooden has served time for robbery and was on federal probation at the time of the crime. He adds that investigators are searching for at least one more suspect in the case.

An autopsy ruled Adam died from several gunshot wounds. Police did not immediately release any suspected motives.
