The player considered to be the top quarterback prospect in the class of 2022 said he is skipping his senior year of high school in Texas and plans to enroll at Ohio State for the upcoming semester.

Quinn Ewers explained in a Twitter post that he would soon be completing the course necessary to graduate from Southlake Carroll High School outside Dallas.

The five-star recruit said his decision was influenced by Texas rules which prohibit him from earning money from endorsement and sponsorship deals as a high school student.

Last month, the NCAA lifted its long-time ban on athletes being compensated for their names, images and likenesses.

Ohio State prepares for the upcoming season in search of a new quarterback to replaced Justin Fields, who was drafted in the first round of this year's NFL draft by the Chicago Bears.

The Buckeyes had three quarterbacks competing for the position prior to Ewers' announcement. However the highly-touted quarterbacks, consisting of redshirt freshman C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller along with another five-star true freshman Kyle McCord, have not thrown a pass during a regular season game at the collegiate level.
