A 4-month-old boy has been found safe after the SUV he was in was stolen Tuesday morning from a child care center parking lot.
Columbus Police sent out an amber alert Tuesday morning after the 2008 Acura MDX was reported stolen. Around noon, police canceled the alert after they found the car with the baby inside, near the intersection of Hildreth and Ohio Avenues in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood.

The initial alert reported a Black male suspect with an afro, but the tweet from Columbus Police announcing the child’s recovery does not say whether the suspect was apprehended.
The Associated Press reports the SUV’s driver had left the vehicle running while she brought an older child into the child care center. It was stolen around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
After seeing the amber alert, two women who were driving in the city spotted a parked SUV that resembled the stolen vehicle. They opened the SUV’s door and saw the child, who was sitting peacefully in a car seat.
