Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced Thursday that it will acquire Toledo-based Mercy Health Children’s Hospital by January 2022.
The hospitals say the goal of the acquisition is to help children and families in the Toledo area have access to a wider array of procedures and therapies without having to travel.
“Since 1999, Mercy Health – Children’s Hospital has provided the highest quality, most compassionate care for children throughout our community,” said Bob Baxter, president of Mercy Health, in a press release Thursday. “This will continue to be the mission, and children and families will benefit from having Nationwide Children’s expertise and resources in our community.”
While the amount of money involved in the acquisition was not disclosed, following the transition Nationwide Children’s will lease the facility that houses Mercy Health. Details regarding staffing and operations and still being finalized, according to the news release.
