Ohio is allowing intermediate care facilities, for people with intellectual disabilities, to resume indoor visitations on Monday.
To limit the spread of COVID-19, intermediate care facilities across the state were restricted from allowing visitors except for end-of-life situations. Now visitors are permitted again as long as the facilities follow safety protocols from the Ohio Department of Health.
Visitors must schedule in advance, and be screened for COVID-19 each time they enter the facilities – ideally through one point of entry.
Residents cannot have visitors if they are in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure. Facilities should still encourage contact-less visits, and hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment should be readily available.
The Department of Health encourages indoor visitations to occur in a dedicated room or building, free of other residents.
