Residents have started moving into a new apartment complex for youth that have aged out of the foster care system, or are homeless.
Two motels in Franklinton are in the process of being transformed into apartments for youth ages 18-24. The complex is called Carol Stewart Village, and is a partnership between Star House and the city of Columbus.
The city devoted $1.6 million in grant money for the purchase of the properties.
The timeline to change the Motel 6 and Knights Inn into studio apartments has been delayed slightly because of the pandemic, and the size of the project has been impacted as well. But several residents have completed the selection process, and started settling into their new homes.
