Due to a power outage, the Columbus Department of Public Utilities has issued a second boil alert this week for certain customers of the Dublin Road Water Plant.

Residents are advised to boil for one minute all the tap water used for cooking and drinking until further notice.

The customers affected are on the North Side on King Avenue; West Side at Dublin Road/33 to Central Avenue; South Side at I-270; and East Side on Parsons Avenue.

Utility officials also report that water may be discolored and there could be a temporary increase in lead levels.

They recommend if tap water is not used for several hours, customers should run the tap for between 30 seconds and 3 minutes before using it for drinking and cooking. This helps to eliminate any water with lead that may have leached from plumbing systems.

Columbus previously issued a boil advisory warning for Dublin Road Water Plant customers on Tuesday, but canceled it a day later after tests showed no contamination.
