The Ohio Attorney General’s office has executed a search warrant at the retirement home Bickford of Worthington.
In an emailed statement, Bickford Senior Living executive vice president Alan Fairbanks insists the Kansas-based company doesn’t know why the facility was searched.
“We have cooperated fully with their requests for information,” he writes. “We look forward to learning more from them as to what they are looking for and why.”
The search warrant is sealed, and a spokesman for Attorney General Dave Yost says the complaint cannot be released publicly because it is part of their investigation.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the complaint suggests residents aren’t being adequately tested for COVID-19 or properly separated from one another, and that staffers don’t have enough protective equipment.
The latest Ohio Department of Health figures, from April 30, show that three Bickford of Worthington residents have come down with COVID-19 since mid-April, and two of those cases are active. One staffer has contracted the disease.
