Ohio Republicans will be canvassing across the state Saturday as part of an effort organized by President Trump’s reelection campaign.
More than 30 local Republican candidates will be involved in the door-to-door canvassing. Among the particupants are Rep. Troy Balderson (R-Ohio), who's running in Central Ohio's 12th congressional district.
“Over the space of three days, we've done 150 Trump Victory Leadership initiative trainings,” says Ohio Republican Party chair Jane Timken. “So we have people who are trained, our volunteers are there, it's basically a massive door-knocking canvassing event.”
Timken says candidates and volunteers will ask voters what's important to them. She repeatedly hears answers like jobs, national security and the economy.
“It's really important for our local candidates and candidates in general to be out knocking doors so they're talking to the voters directly and people get a chance to see them out there,” Timken says. “There's really no substitute for that face-to-face contact with a voter.”
Canvassers will be knocking on doors in Franklin, Delaware and Union counties starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
