Commuters headed home Monday afternoon through I-670 on the Northeast Side may want to find an alternate route as ODOT crews work on emergency repairs.
ODOT workers closed the left lanes of I-670 at Stelzer Road due to an unexplained issue with an existing bridge joint. ODOT says crews discovered a similar issue with a bridge joint on I-670 westbound over the weekend, but Monday's work isn't related.

While ODOT resurfaced all lanes of I-670 last year, the agency reports the condition of the bridge decks did not warrant resurfacing.
The ongoing project does include bridge sealing, which ODOT says is common practice to maintain the pavement in good condition.
The I-670 eastbound lanes are expected to remain closed until after this evening's commute.
