Early voting is now underway in Ohio as the registration deadline has passed. Voting starts Wednesday, while Ohio has seen an influx in registered voters.
Based on the primary voter rolls, Ohio is on track to have an increase of more than 100,000 voters compared to the 2016 election. Secretary of State Jon Husted says more than 60,000 people have registered using the online tool.
“The process has gone very well because we have a simple and easy way for people to register," Husted said. "They can do it online at MyOhioVote.com, which is your one-stop-shop for all your election needs."
That website MyOhioVote.com can also be used to find out if you’re still registered in Ohio and where your polling location is. A virtual voter toolkit also allows residents to view their sample ballot and track absentee ballots.
Early voting can be done via mail-in absentee ballot or in person at a voter's county elections board or early voting center designated by the county. Military and overseas absentee balloting began September 22.
For now, in-person voting is Monday-Friday, but weekend in-person voting will be possible closer to the November 6 midterm election.
Besides state and federal offices and a statewide ballot issue, Husted said voters will decide 1,661 local issues as well as many local races.
