Urban Meyer is back at work. At least partially.
Meyer returned to the team on Monday, more than a month after being put on leave in the wake of reports about years-old domestic violence allegations against former assistant coach Zach Smith.
Meyer was suspended through September 2 and remains suspended for each of Ohio State’s first three games, but he’s now allowed to work with the team during the week.
Aside from some statements on Twitter, Meyer has largely avoided the public since his suspension started.
Meyer returns to a team that looks to be in midseason form. The Buckeyes routed Oregon State 77-31 in their season opener last Saturday. It was the head coaching debut for Ohio State’s interim head coach Ryan Day, who is normally the team's co-offensive coordinator.
Leading up to the game, Day said it felt like his “hair was on fire” when he was first charged with overseeing an entire team.
