It will be a hot, short day for Columbus City Schools.
Because many schools still lack air conditioning, the district is dismissing all schools 2.5 hours early to help students beat the heat. All middle and high schools dismiss at noon Tuesday. All elementary schools will release students at 1 p.m.

Students will be served lunch before being dismissed.
All after-school and extra-curricular activities planned for Tuesday afternoon are also canceled. Buses will operate as normal, just two-and-a half hours earlier.
The early dismals come as the Cleveland Metropolitan School District closed 18 buildings because of excessive heat.
