The Ohio State University says a foundation has made a $17 million commitment to set up an entrepreneurship center within the Fischer College of Business.
Ohio State says the Tim and Kathleen Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship will focus on cultivating students' entrepreneurial skills and creating an enriched extracurricular experience around entrepreneurship. It will also serve as a resource for Ohio’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem.
It’s being funded by The Keenan Family Foundation, which was established by Tim and Kathleen Keenan in 2012. Tim Keenan, the foundation's vice president and treasurer, said in a statement that they are confident the center can be a "driving contributor to job creation in Ohio and the nation."
“Our first endeavor was in upstate and central New York and now we have focused on the Midwest,” Keenan said. “We are excited to partner with The Ohio State University and Fisher College of Business to position the university as a thought leader and focal point of action for the Midwest and the nation as a whole.”
Tim Keenan is a 1980 graduate of Ohio State.
“Their inspiring gift honors Buckeye Nation’s proud entrepreneurial legacy, while laying the educational foundation for tomorrow’s business leaders,” university president Michael Drake said in a statement.
