UPS announced on Wednesday that the company would immediately begin the hiring 600 permanent jobs in Columbus.

The openings follow the expansion of the company’s local package hubs, located at 5101 Trabue Road in Hilliard and 2450 Rathmell Road in Obetz. A job fair will be held at the Trabue Road facility on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The company says wages for these positions will begin at $10.35 per hour for package-handler positions and $18.75 for the tractor trailer driver positions.

“We have a variety of jobs and shifts available here in Columbus, and I’d encourage anyone looking for a part-time or full-time job with good pay and benefits to come to the job fair to learn more,” said HR manager Chelsea Allison in the press release. “I’ve seen first hand that these jobs can be a foot-in-the-door for a great career at UPS.”

In the fall, UPS will begin hiring for an additional 1,000 seasonal jobs in order to “handle the holiday shipping rush.”
