Ohio Voter Registation Deadline Is Monday, Early Voting Begins Tuesday

Monday is the last day to register for Ohio's May primary. Early voting for the primary begins Tuesday.

The Secretary of State Jon Husted says voters will have the chance to weigh in on Issue 1, a statewide ballot issue involving redistricting, and to vote in statewide and local races. A total of 477 local issues are on ballots in 83 of Ohio's 88 counties.

On May 8, Ohioans will pick party nominees for governor, attorney general, secretary of state, auditor and treasurer, all of which are open races Primaries for U.S. Senator and U.S. Representatives, some of which include incumbent candidates, will also be held.

In Columbus, voters will also see Issue 3, a proposed charter amendment to reform Columbus City Council.

Ohioans who are currently 17, but will turn 18 by the November election, are allowed to register now and vote for candidates in the May primary - but not for ballot issues.

For the statewide races, the major party candidates are:
