Tasty Made, Chipotle's Burger Experiment, Closes In Lancaster

Tasty Made

The Mexican fast-casual chain Chipotle has shut down its experimental burger restaurant, Tasty Made, that opened two years ago in Lancaster, Ohio.

The restaurant closed Wednesday. An assistant manager who answered the phone at the restaurant confirmed the closing, but would not elaborate on why the restaurant failed.

A Columbus Business First report says the Lancaster area did not offer the "economics" for the restaurant to be successful. Plans for a second location in Pickerington never developed.

Tasty Made, which served burgers, fries and shakes, opened to disappointing reviews and soon switched away from its promise of "responsibly-raised" beef. Chipotle even brought in celebrity chef Richard Blais to spice up its menu and help establish the Tasty Made brand.

Employees of Tasty Made are being offered other positions within the Chipotle enterprise.
