Tuesday kicks off the Ideas for Advocacy Conference, which focuses on Ohio's opioid epidemic. The conference is hosted by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center's Harding Hospital.
The event is aimed at victim and survivor service providers who are struggling to care for the thousands of Ohioans addicted to opioids.
This is the fourth in a series of conferences focused on the opioid issue. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Ohio State's 4-H Center.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, about 11 Ohioans a day are dying from overdoses.
Last October, DeWine released a "Recovery Ohio" plan to attack the opioid crisis. He has said his focus is going after medical professionals and drug companies deemed to overprescribe opiates, and he created a Heroin Unit Outreach Team to meet with families and government officials throughout Ohio's 88 counties.
Last week, DeWine met with two of the five opioid manufacturers the state is suing to try to reach a settlement.
