Sen. John McCain of Arizona announced Friday he'll vote “no” on the latest Republican bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. He was one of five U.S. Senators targeted in a new ad from a health care consumer organization opposed to the latest Republican health care bill.
Sen. Rob Portman is another.
“There’s an old saying – the definition of ‘insanity’ is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results,” the ad announces. “Well, that’s what Congressional leaders are doing right now.”

The $200,000 ad campaign from the Community Catalyst Action Fund is airing on radio in Alaska, Arizona, West Virginia, Maine and Ohio to put pressure on Republican Senators to defeat the latest Obamacare replacement.
Sens. Shelley Moore of West Virginia, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are also seen as potential “no” votes for the Cassidy-Graham bill, which eliminates Medicaid expansion and protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Collins and Murkowski, along with McCain, defeated the previous attempt at repealing Obamacare in July.
Despite saying he opposes cuts to Medicaid, which covers 7000,000 Ohioans, Portman voted for that last ACA repeal bill. He hinted he is supportive of the Cassidy-Graham plan but wants it to include money for the opioid crisis.
Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Sherrod Brown have asked Portman to vote against the plan.
