Noah Spielman, the son of former Ohio State football player Chris Spielman, is among five college football players facing felony charges in Illinois over an alleged hazing incident.
The Chicago Tribune reports Noah Spielman, James Cooksey, Kyler Kregel, Benjamin Pettway and Samuel TeBos were expected to turn themselves into police this week on charges of aggravated battery, mob action and unlawful restraint.
The charges are related to an alleged incident in March 2016 at Wheaton College in suburban Chicago in which the players are accused of pulling a freshman teammate from his dorm room, covering his head with a pillow case, wrapping his arms and legs in duct tape, and dumping him at a baseball field at night.
The alleged victim says he suffered muscle tears in both shoulders and underwent two surgeries.
He also reportedly told investigators that his teammates tried to insert an object into his rectum, and he was beaten when he yelled at them to stop.
Noah Spielman is a 21-year-old senior defensive lineman who originally attended the University of Toledo before transferring to Wheaton. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School.
Chris Spielman’s agent told WBNS that he was surprised by the charges filed more than a year after the incident, and that Spielman’s family will fight them in court.
