Tuesday was a good day to be an incumbent on Columbus City Council, but a bad day for some Central Ohio school districts.
Columbus Democrats Mitchell Brown, Shannon Hardin, and Priscilla Tyson easily fought off challenges during yesterday's primary election.
Democrats James Ayres and Will Petrik, and Republican Kieran Cartharn will challenge the three incumbents for their seats in November.
Cartharn, 19, says he's the youngest candidate to ever advance out of a Columbus City Council primary.
Franklin County voters also approved a property tax increase to fund in-home care and meals for senior citizens.
In Reynoldsburg, voters approved an income-tax hike to fund a new community center. Lancaster voters approved an income-tax increase for the local park system.
Voters were not as kind to local school levies. Levies for Amanda-Clearcreek, Liberty Union-Thurston, and Pickerington schools failed at the polls. A levy for the Southwest Licking district narrowly passed.
