Ohio's official unemployment rate once again increased slightly last month. State labor officials say a survey of workers found the state’s official jobless rate rose to 5.1 percent in February, up from an even 5 percent in January.

Prior to January, the rate hovered just below five percent for three straight months.

While the number of people officially classified as unemployed increased by about 7,000 in February, another survey of employers found they added about 15,000 workers last month.

The best-performing sectors included construction, leisure and hospitality, and educational and health services.  The biggest job losses came in state government and financial activities.

Ohio’s unemployment rate remains .4 percent higher than the nationwide average of 4.7 percent.
