Airline travelers headed in or out of Columbus for Thanksgiving should not find long lines, despite an uptick in travel this year.
More than 6 million passengers have traveled through John Glenn International Airport so far this year. That’s an 8 percent increase over last year.
And now with the holidays, it’s the busiest time to fly, but airport officials say don’t expect any backups. Spokeswoman Angie Tabor says the airlines and TSA are both fully staffed and ready to get passengers onboard smoothly.
Tabor says the only glitch could be weather.
“Because it’s a national aviation system, weather in other parts of the country can affect air travel here in and out of Columbus, so what we encourage people to do is stay in contact with your airline," she says. "Airlines are very proactive if they need to reschedule a flight.”
Tabor says to expect a busier airport this Saturday and Sunday as holiday travelers go home.
