The nationwide protests against the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline are coming to Central Ohio on Tuesday.
A rally is planned Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm outside a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers building on Lewis Center Road in Lewis Center.
An event posted on the activist web site Action Network says:
The movement to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline is growing stronger by the day, and it’s time for all of us to rise up and play a role in this fight. Join us on Tuesday, November 15 for a solidarity action and rally at the Army Corps of Engineers office at Lewis Center OH .
The pipeline is to run beneath a Missouri River reservoir in North Dakota that provides drinking water to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. It says the pipeline threatens drinking water and cultural sites.
The $3.8 billion project is slated to deliver North Dakota oil through South Dakota and Iowa to a shipping point in Illinois.
