Alleged Ohio State University Groper Arrested

Ohio State University Police

Ohio State University police say they've arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a student on campus this week. OSU officials say this apparently is not the first time he’s been accused of this crime.

OSU police report their suspect is 59 year old Lonnie Sturdivant. Officials say a student reported a fondling incident that happened Tuesday, while she was sitting on a bench outside of a campus building along West Woodruff Avenue.

She reported an unknown man had approached and asked if he could sit down beside her. That’s when she told police he began to touch her lower body. He then fled.

OSU police say a second student reported a similar incident that also occurred on Tuesday. That student says she was working on her computer on the second floor of the Ohio Union when a man approached her, sat behind her and asked if he could charge his phone. Soon after, the suspect groped her lower torso.

After a confrontation, he left the area.

Media outlets report Sturdivant has been caught in the act before by cameras near OSU and at Columbus State.

And they say Sturdivant was banned from riding COTA buses for groping women sitting near him.
