An investigation is underway in Pickaway County involving the death of a reportedly suicidal man. Two deputy sheriffs arrived to check on the man. Shots were fired and the man was found dead.
Franklin County sheriff's officials are handling the investigation.
Media outlets report the man had called a crisis line for help. When two Pickaway County deputies arrived they saw the man with a rifle outside the house and called for backup.
Minutes later, the deputies radioed that shots had been fired.
Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff is quoted in the Columbus Dispatch as saying that it didn't appear the man fatally shot by deputies ever fired a shot.
Both deputies are now on administrative leave, as the investigation continues.
