Accused Painkiller Dealer Charged With Murder In Overdose

Frankin County Jail

A Franklin County grand jury has indicted a man on a murder charge for allegedly selling a powerful painkiller that led to a deadly overdose.

Prosecutors say jurors returned a 20-count indictment against Rayshon Alexander. Charges against the 36-year-old include single counts of murder and manslaughter, as well as ten counts of corrupting others with drugs and four counts of trafficking in heroin.

Investigators say Alexander sold Carfentanil, a painkiller that’s 10,000 times more potent than morphine and 100 times more powerful than the painkiller fentanyl.

Police say at least nine other people overdosed but survived on the same day.

“All of these overdoses happened within hours of each other and all of the drug trafficking took place in the vicinity surrounding Bishop Hartley High School,” Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said in a statement.

Alexander is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
