Columbus Police have released the identities of the officers involved in and victim of the ninth police involved shooting this year.
On Thursday evening, 25-year-old Kawme Patrick was fatally shot by two Columbus Police officers, Cassie Scott and Linda Gutierrez. Officials say this is the third fatal shooting of an alleged criminal by Columbus Police this year.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to an apartment on Lockhurst Road on the report of a black man with a gun.
Officers spotted a man who matched the description of the alleged gunman. A confrontation ensued and multiple shots were fired. Patrick was pronounced dead after arriving at Grant Medical Center. No officers were injured. A gun was recovered at the scene.
The division's critical incident response team continues to investigate.
