After a 16-month renovation, the Columbus Metropolitan Library is set to reopen its doors this weekend.
The $35 million makeover transformed a 1991 addition to the downtown building into what's being described as a library for the future.
C-E-O Pat Losinski said while the newly designed space offers impressive views and lots of natural light, the focus remains on books whether they're printed or electronic.
"At the end of the day, we're about reading. Reading as an essential life skill that people need to be engaged in; children need to master. So, that's something that's really important to us," Losinski said.
Losinski said a Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony are planned for noon Saturday. A jazz concert is planned for later in the day, along with a showing of The Lorax, a film adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book. Bestselling author David Baldacci is scheduled to give a talk on Sunday.
