Police Identify Teen Who Drowned Thursday In The Scioto River

Columbus police have identified the body of a teenager who was pulled Friday morning from the Scioto River near downtown.

Police say the victim is 17-year-old Caleb Faught of Columbus.  He was swimming in the Scioto with friends yesterday when he disappeared beneath the water.

Local reports say two men fishing nearby saw Faught go under and never resurface.

Divers found Faught’s body at around 10 o’clock, about 100 feet from where he was seen entering the river.   The body was found in about 5 feet of water.
