Jury Recommends Death Sentence For Ohio Man In 3 Killings

Convicted murderer Michael Madison awaits a jury's decison on his sentence.

A jury has recommended that an Ohio man receive the death penalty for killing three women and wrapping their bodies in garbage bags in an impoverished Cleveland suburb.

A Cuyahoga County judge will now decide whether to sentence 38-year-old Michael Madison to die by lethal injection or to life in prison with no parole. The jury in Cleveland deliberated less than a day before making its recommendation Friday.

That same jury convicted Madison of multiple counts of aggravated murder and kidnapping earlier this month for killing 38-year-old Angela Deskins, 28-year-old ShetishaSheeley and 18-year-old Shirellda Terry. Their bodies were found in July 2013 near the East Cleveland apartment building where Madison lived.

Madison's attorneys argued that he shouldn't receive the death penalty because of psychological damage caused by child abuse.
