Ohio Republicans Meeting For Reorganization, Convention

Ohio Republicans are gathering in the Columbus area for a state party organizational session and a meeting of their delegation to this summer's national convention in Cleveland.

Chairman Matt Borges says the party's state central and executive committee members meet Friday, and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor plans to swear in newly elected state central committee members. That will be followed by a delegation meeting, which will include electing members to convention committees.

The 66 delegates support Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who won the state's winner-take-all March 15 primary but has struggled to add delegates elsewhere. His campaign is still hoping to prevent businessman Donald Trump from reaching a majority before the July 18-21 convention, where Kasich hopes to emerge as the choice of a contested convention.
