Ohio University has decided to renovate the grand old president's house at the center of campus and use it in the future to serve students.
The university's president and his wife moved out of the house a year ago after they complained it had become infested by bats.
The school's board approved a plan earlier this month to renovate the residence.
Ohio University President Roderick McDavis moved off campus last year after his wife had a surprise encounter with a bat that resulted in a fall and a broken ankle.
The school shelved plans to spend $1.2 million on a home for the school's president after the plan raised the ire of many in the community who complained it was a waste of money.
