A network of radio and television stations operated by Ohio University says it’s implementing corrective measures stemming from sexual harassment allegations.
WOUB Pubic Media says it’s implemented changes in its student-run sports department, cancelling shows, and firing student employees. A WOUB statement says the stations learned of ‘demeaning, gender-based incidents that created an unacceptable work environment for some female students.’
Ohio University’s student newspaper “The Post” quotes a report from WOUB to the school’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights Compliance saying male students in leadership positions promoted women they believed were most attractive. Women were also subjected, the newspaper says, to “foul, vile and egregious sexual talk.”
A statement from Ohio University says it does not comment on matters under review involving students.
