The latest poll in the race for one of Ohio's U.S. Senate seats says the contest is within the survey's margin of error.
The poll of Ohio voters by Quinnipiac University says Democratic former Gov. Ted Strickland leads incumbent Republican Senator Rob Portman 44 to 42 percent.
The poll has a margin of error of 2.5 percent.
The survey says Strickland holds a 48 to 29 percent lead over his Democratic primary opponent, Cincinnati City Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld.
The poll says both Portman and Strickland have a favorability rating of 42 percent among Ohio voters, although Strickland has higher negative ratings.
The same poll says Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich would defeat either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders in the general election. But another Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday says Kasich trails Donald Trump by five points among likely Republican primary voters.
