A judge has set bail at $1.5 million for a central Ohio man accused of raping a bank employee last week.
Columbus police say 31-year-old Billy Anderson walked into the downtown Chase bank building late Friday afternoon and said he wanted to rent a safety deposit box. Police say he then assaulted the female employee who assisted him and fled on foot.
Police say Anderson was soon apprehended. He faces charges including rape, kidnapping and robbery. A Franklin County judge set his bail Monday. Anderson's preliminary hearing is expected on March 1.
WTTE-TV reports that Anderson's attorney says his client denies the accusations.
Records show that Anderson was released from prison two days before the incident. He served more than three years in prison for abduction and attempted robbery.
