One of four men accused of raising money for a known al-Qaida leader has pleaded not guilty in Ohio.

Forty-year-old Sultane Room Salim, of Columbus, appeared Thursday in federal court in Toledo and was ordered to remain in jail.

Federal prosecutors say the four men with Ohio ties worked together to send money and other assistance to al-Qaida leader Anwar al-Awlaki. U.S. officials linked him to the planning and execution of several attacks targeting American and Western interests before he was killed in a drone strike in 2011.

Two of the suspects charged with raising money for al-Qaida have been living in the United Arab Emirates and aren't in custody. The fourth man was arrested Thursday in Texas, outside Dallas.

Court documents don't list attorneys for them.
