Columbus City Council president Andrew Ginther proposes ethics reforms as Mayor Michael Coleman, Auditor Hugh Dorian listen

Columbus City Council president and mayoral candidate Andrew Ginther says he’s proposing tough new ethics laws.

The Democrat announced the proposals Thursday morning at a city hall press conference.

Ginther says the proposal would require more specifics about candidates’ campaign finance contributions.  Elected officials would also face stronger financial disclosure.  And he would change who must register as a lobbyist and increase penalties for those who violate the city’s lobbyist rules.
