FBI officials based in Columbus say they've returned a painting stolen by Nazis during World War II.
The piece called “Portrait of a Young Man” is believed to have been stolen from a Polish museum in 1944, discovered by an American serviceman in Austria, and years later sold to a buyer in Central Ohio.
The FBI says when the latest owner heard the back-story, they agreed to give the painting to the Polish Ministry of Cultural and National Heritage.
The effort known as the Nazi Plunder stretched from 1933 until the end of the war and including the theft and destruction of art from around Europe.
Historians say up to 100,000 pieces of stolen art are still missing.
