Franklin Co. Prosecutor Ron O'Brien reports more heroin overdose indictments recently.

A Franklin County Grand Jury indicted a woman in the drug overdose death of her toddler.

Erica Marie Barley, 31, allegedly took her 14-month-old daughter to a drug house where the child ingested heroin laced with a powerful painkiller.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said the coroner found lethal amounts of heroin and Fentanyl in Annabella Sagstetter's system.

O'Brien anticipates more cases like these to be prosecuted as the city’s heroin epidemic continues.

“We actually have another case involving a small child that also died from a drug overdose," he said. "And we expect that to proceed within the next week down here under similar circumstances.”

“More recently, we’ve indicted a few drug dealers for providing drugs to someone that caused their death," O'Brien added.

Barley is charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangering. She faces 11 years in prison if she’s convicted.
