Columbus-based retailer Bath & Body Works says it will end the controversial practice of on-call scheduling in all of its U.S. stores.
On-call scheduling is popular with retailers and forces workers to show up for work or stay home with little notice, depending on that day's store traffic.
The policy is often criticized for giving workers erratic hours, unpredictable income, and posing difficulties in scheduling child care and hours at other jobs.
The decision by Bath and Body Works comes months after the attorney general in the state of New York told the company on-call scheduling may violate state labor laws.
The new policy will also apply to another L Brands company: lingerie giant Victoria's Secret.
