Female Who Traveled From West Africa Transported To Hospital

CDC
Infectious diseases specialists are evaluating a female who recently traveled to West Africa where an Ebola outbreak killed thousands during the past year.

A female, who is being monitored by Columbus Public Health due to recent travel from West Africa, has been taken to a local hospital. West Africa is recovering from a widespread Ebola outbreak.

Columbus Public Health spokesman Jose Rodriguez said the female reported she was not feeling well earlier Tuesday.

“That patient is being evaluated. That doesn’t mean the patient is going to be tested for Ebola," Rodriguez said. "It could be the flu. It could be malaria. It could be a bug. So we haven’t determined whether the individual will be tested or not yet.”

According to Rodriguez, city health officials are monitoring about 35 people who have recently traveled to West Africa.
