More than 50,000 students will head back to class Wednesday at the Columbus City schools. District officials say they were able to place qualified teachers in open positions.
Some school districts across the country have had some teacher shortages for certain classes like Special-Ed and English as a second language, as well as math and science. But, that's not the case in Columbus public schools.
Columbus City Schools Superintendent Dan Good says the district was pro-active in getting positions filled.
"When we have particularly effective substitutes or part timers or even student teachers we were offering letters of commitment throughout the year and therefore we didn't experience percentage wise the same shortage that many districts did," said Good.
Good says jobs are constantly posted online. Good spoke Tuesday morning on WOSU's All Sides with Ann Fisher.
