A former star pitcher for the Ohio State baseball team has lost his battle with cancer.
The OSU athletics department confirms Zach Farmer died early Tuesday. The Pike County native was an All-American at Piketon High School and spurned offers from professional teams to play at OSU.
The left hander was diagnosed with leukemia near the end of his first full college season.
He was declared cancer free in early 2015, but the disease soon returned.
“They kinda told me there was not really much they could do with this cancer returning back. The options were limited," Farmer told WCMH earlier this year.
Zach Farmer was 21 years old.
