Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream announced Friday afternoon it will re-open tomorrow night after a week-long closure due to a second listeria contamination.

Jeni’s founder Jeni Britton Bauer wrote that “The menu will be limited at first,” but stores will open at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Jeni’s scoop shops were closed and production was halted, last week, after a routine swab test found listeria a second time.

Britton Bauer said Smith's Dairy in Orrville, Ohio made all the ice cream for the re-open. Smith’s Dairy has provided Jeni’s with cream and milk for some time.

“They pulled out all the stops to get our ice cream made and have done a stellar job of it,” Britton Bauer said.

Smith's will provide ice creams and yogurts to the scoop shops while Jeni's continues to try to fix the problem at its production plant.

The second closure lasted a week, much shorter than the first listeria contamination which shut down production for almost a month.
