The driver of the bus was reportedly transported to Mt. Carmel West in critical condition.

A Columbus City Schools bus driver crashed his bus this morning on the west side after  suffering a medical emergency while driving with children on board.

Columbus City Schools spokesman Jeff Warner says the driver reportedly passed out striking several vehicles before the bus came to a stop near Sullivant Avenue and Demorest Road. Warner says the students were not harmed.

"There were six students on board.  They exited through the rear of the bus. No injuries as a result of the accident or from getting off the bus.

Warner says a nurse reportedly rendered assistance to the stricken bus driver. He was transported to Mt. Carmel West Hospital.
