Columbus School Board Fires Another Principal For Data Rigging

Pamela Diggs has said record changing was a "top-down scheme" that was practiced district-wide.

Another Columbus principal has been officially fired for her role in a grade and attendance rigging scandal.

The school board on Tuesday night voted unanimously to fire Pamela Diggs from Marion-Franklin High School. Officials say she changed 186 records in the 2010-2011 school year, the same school year 31,000 absences were deleted.

Diggs has fought her firing, calling record changing a district-wide "top-down scheme" that principals were trained to do.

Former superintendent Gene Harris, who led the district during much of the record changing and when revelations of data scrubbing came to light, has denied any knowledge of or participation in systematic record changing.

She pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of dereliction of duty.

Former Linden-McKinley STEM Academy principal Tiffany Chavers was officially fired in February, but is appealing her firing in a Franklin County court.
