A Union county man has been sentenced to life in prison for what prosecutors called the poisoning death of his wife.
More than two dozen witnesses testified against Jon Costell. He was charged with murder after a ten-month investigation showed he poisoned his ailing wife inside their Milford Center home. Costell's attorney didn't call a single witness, instead blaming his wife Debra's death on nursing efforts.
At sentencing Costell told the judge he was innocent, and loved and missed his wife.
The judge said Costell lacked remorse, and sentenced him to life in prison with the change of parole after 25 years.
