A new independent poll shows former Ohio governor Ted Strickland leading Republican Rob Portman in the race for Portman’s U.S. Senate seat.
The poll from Quinnipiac University gives the Democratic Strickland a nine-point lead over the incumbent Portman among Ohio voters.
The poll says 49 percent of Ohio voters approve of the job Portman has done. Strickland has a 49 percent “favorability” rating, while 89 percent of voters haven’t heard enough about Democratic candidate P.G. Sittenfeld to form an opinion of him.
The poll also says 52 percent of Ohio voters support legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use.
